Ashby accountants raise over £1,000 for charity
Accountants from Leicestershire have completed a marathon of a challenge to raise money for charity.
Six accountants from Baldwins’ Ashby de la Zouch office on The Green have raised over £1,000 after taking part in the Lets Go Local Marathon Relay Challenge at Hicks Lodge, Moira, near Ashby.
The 26.2 mile event saw teams of up to six people tackle the course in a relay style, taking it in turns to complete one-mile laps around Hicks Lodge Lake.
Lisa Emery, Nicola Aspinall, Michael Flannigan, Joe Fitzpatrick, Liam Hammond and Darren Pegg from Baldwins completed the race in support of the Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Loughborough and Ashby Rotary Club.
Lisa, partner at Baldwins accountants in Ashby de la Zouch, which has 10 offices across the Midlands, said: “It was our first attempt at the challenge and we all had such an amazing time.
“Our hard work paid off and we are thrilled to have been able to raise money for two fantastic local charities.
“We couldn’t have done it without the encouragement of our friends, family, colleagues and clients who have been extremely supportive and generous with their sponsorship.”
At least 60% of proceeds raised through registration fees charged for the marathon relay challenge will also be donated to the Rainbows Hospice and The National Forest charities.
