Childwall’s Caitlyn Kirkpatrick fuels imagination at nursery open day

Children enjoy new soft play and imagination village

Caitlyn Kirkpatrick, from Childwall enjoyed her play time on Saturday when she tried out the new soft play and imagination village at Holyrood Nursery Princes Dock.

Holyrood Nursery is the first in Liverpool to offer soft play facilities for children in its care and it celebrated its launch on Saturday 20 July by opening its doors to families from around Merseyside.

Children were invited to test drive the new £100k soft play area and life sized, imagination village that includes a café, hospital, builder’s yard and library.

The new soft play and imagination village facilities were praised by Dr Ailis Murphy, Clinical Director of Northwest Psychology Consultants with special interest in child development, who said: “This new facility provides an ideal fun and stimulating environment for children to have interactive play with others. It is through such physical and interactive play that a considerable portion of neural development takes place, and it is essential for healthy emotional and cognitive growth.”

Caitlyn’s parents, Marie and Adam say: “Caitlyn attended three nurseries before coming to Holyrood and we were always disappointed with the level of care provided. We came to see the nursery manager Natalie, and we were so impressed with Holyrood, we paid our deposit there and then.

“Caitlyn had cried on her way to previous nurseries, but is always excited to come here. She’s been here for just under a year now and the improvements we have seen within that time are exceptional.”

The launch of the nursery is part of owner Graeme Scott’s ambitious plans to expand the Holyrood brand. He says: “I once talked to a nursery nurse about the need for children to be running into nursery at the start of the day and not wanting to leave at the end of the day, instead of clinging to their parents’ legs.

“As a father of five, it is a natural instinct to want the very best for your children and I guessed other parents would feel the same. I made it my ambition to create a nursery with a music mix of facilities to excite children and stimulate their imaginations. We now have 34 nurseries in total – one of them being Holyrood Nursery Princes Dock – and seven more in the pipeline. We’re always looking at ways to improve and make Holyrood unique, and our soft play area and imaginary life-sized village do just that – these are exciting times!

“We held the open day specifically to launch these new fantastic facilities and were delighted that so many families from the city could join us in the fun. We have always prided ourselves on offering extra space, in which children can learn and develop, and it was put to full use by around 100 young people that day – it was a joy to watch them!”
