Winning gamble for Sky Blues
Manchester City FC has clinched another significant signing, agreeing a two-year sponsorship deal with Isle of Man-registered online bookmaker 188Bet.
The arrangement sees 188Bet become City’s official international betting partner until the end of the 2014/15 season.
188Bet will receive brand exposure on the club’s Malaysian, Thai, Chinese and Indonesian websites, and have the right to use City’s crest and player imagery in marketing and publicity campaigns.
Tom Glick, City’s chief commercial and operating officer, said: “188Bet’s experience within the Premier League has made them one of the most popular bookmakers among football fans, making them the perfect fit for the club.
“Having built a strong reputation by providing customers with an extensive variety of products across multiple markets, we feel 188Bet has the opportunity to become one of the biggest online gaming companies in the world. We look forward to working together to help them expand their operations, particularly throughout South East Asia.”
Nigel Singer, managing director of 188Bet, added: “Manchester City is a fantastic addition to our global partnerships with Premier League football clubs.
“We are delighted to be associated with a club with such strong heritage and a passionate and loyal global fan base. This will allow us to reach a broad international audience.”
Founded in 2006, 188BET is now an established in-play betting specialist, covering more than 400 football leagues worldwide and over 10,000 live games for in-play betting every month.
The announcement follows City’s deal with new sports rights holder BT Sport, who will sponsor the club’s fanzone area, City Square, from where it will broadcast live match-day programming before every home game.
