Business is booming for man who blocks out the sun

The recent heatwave has resulted in a welcome boost for a business that blocks out the sun.

Glare Guard Window Film is on the verge of expansion after seeing demand for its services soar in the blazing sunshine of the last few weeks.

The company - a member of the Redcar and Cleveland Business Forum - fits a range of solar and security window films to business premises, public buildings, and vehicles.

Its customers include shops, salons, offices, banks and Olympic sporting venues.

The company is one of those being supported by the Redcar Enterprise Team - the driving force behind the borough’s newly-established business forum.

Managing director Paul McQuade said: “Inquiries have more than trebled recently with most of the calls coming from shops and offices - business has never been better.

“This heatwave has been brilliant for business, we just hope it continues as it means we can expand.

“With support from the Enterprise Team’s business coaches we’re now looking at moving to larger premises and taking on staff.”

The Enterprise Team’s business experts are fuelling business growth any way they can - from helping companies cut their energy bills to highlighting how they can build on success and increase turnover.

The business coaches provide advice and support on a range of business topics including business planning, strategic direction, raising finance, tax, payroll and record-keeping, recruitment, staff development, acquiring a business, international trade, and protecting intellectual property.

The team also has a bank of business experts to call upon who provide a bespoke advisory service on topics including marketing, accounts, recruitment and business funding.

Glare Guard Window Film – which was launched in 2011 – is one of scores of companies benefitting from the team’s support.

The company has applied tinted solar window film to business premises and public buildings across the Tees Valley.

The solar window film reduces heat and glare, resulting in a more comfortable working environment.

The company also fits safety and security film which prevents windows shattering if they are attacked, and fitted the anti-bomb blast film to the windows of one of the 2012 Olympic venues.
