Busy Bank Holiday at Leeds Bradford
Leeds Bradford Airport had one of its busiest August Bank Holiday weekends with an estimated 12% increase in passengers compared to normal.
Around 30,000 passengers flew out of the airport on the last summer bank holiday of the year with the most popular hot spots being Turkey, Cyprus, Spain and Greece.
Top short break destinations included Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin and Dublin.
Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport’s marketing director, said: “We are delighted to see that so many passengers are taking advantage of the long Bank Holiday weekend with an end of summer beach or city break. As Yorkshire’s Gateway airport we also look forward to welcoming overseas visitors to experience the region’s culture, history and famous hospitality.”
Earlier this week the airport announced more transatlantic flights with Leeds-based airline Jet2 launching breaks to Toronto, Boston and New York starting in spring 2014.
