Yorkshire company helps green homeowners earn and save money
With the government’s recent announcement of a hefty increase in the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) making owning and installing renewable technology more financially appealing, Harrogate living and space company, Michael Wright Kitchens and Interiors, has launched a sustainable business to work alongside it.
The aim of Yorkshire Heat Pumps of Blubberhouses is to help clients to incorporate renewable technology around the home.
The company claims that it is one of the first in the region to offer homeowners the chance to capitalise on legislative incentives to improve their green credentials – earning and saving money by doing so.
The government’s latest scheme to encourage householders to embrace the renewable energy route sees a generous tariff rate of 18.8p/kwh (kilowatt per hour of renewable heat generation) being offered for installing heat pumps.
This means that they can earn an annual ‘income’ over a seven-year period while making dramatic savings on household bills and generating cleaner energy.
There government has also made available a number of grants to cover the upfront costs of installing renewable equipment. The Green Deal lets people pay for renewable heating systems through savings on their energy bills and through Green Deal Finance.
Michael Wright said: “The savings are there to see; ten years ago my brother and I bought properties next door to each other. He went down the oil fired boiler route, while I followed the sustainable path. Over the decade I have saved approximately £2,000 to £2,500 per annum, compared to my brother - and taken RHI payments of approximately £3,700 a year.”
Yorkshire Heat Pumps sources its equipment from Nibe, a Swedish renewables expert that claims to mix leading edge technology with up-to-the-minute design and style for heat pumps and boilers that have a clean, streamlined style and are virtually silent.
