Grant secures 88 new homes across Wirral
Wirral’s largest registered housing provider, Magenta Living, is to start work on building 88 homes across the borough after being awarded £1.32million in Government funding.
Magenta Living currently owns and manages more than 12,000 homes, received the funding from a £56million allocated to the North West from the Homes and Communities Agency.
Wirral’s share means 14 homes will now be built on a site in Field Road, Wallasey, 14 in Kenilworth Gardens, Overchurch, 36 at Melrose and Thornridge in Moreton and 24 as phase two of the development at St Josephs Place, Birkenhead.
Steve Eaves, assistant director of development for Magenta Living, said: “We are delighted that we can add to our development portfolio with this grant.
“We already have the sites and now we have the funding to build 88 much needed homes. Magenta Living is always looking at ways it can develop more homes and we will continue to bid for funding as it becomes available.”
Work is expected to begin on the first new homes in September.
The housing association recently completed work on transforming the Knowsley Court high-rise flats in Birkenhead into modern apartments, with communal areas, new kitchens and bathrooms and updated lighting and décor.
This project is the penultimate scheme in its £32m refurbishment of eight high rise blocks.
Work is now underway on the £3m refurbishment of Mersey Court in Seacombe.
