Teesside family flooring business in relocation boost

A Stokesley-based, family-run flooring company is marking its tenth anniversary with a boost in sales.

Hendersons Carpet and Flooring was established in 2003 by Carl Henderson, from Saltburn, and relocated from Guisborough to the Terry Dicken Industrial Estate in Stokesley two years ago to allow the business to expand.

Since its relocation, the company has seen a growth in business from both domestic and commercial customers across the Teesside and North Yorkshire areas as more people than ever switch back to natural flooring and traditional carpets as opposed to laminate.

Turnover has also been boosted by relocation and has increased steadily- even during the recession.

The Henderson family have a 50 year reputation in the interiors and flooring business in North Yorkshire and the North East with Carl’s grandfather and uncle setting up Henderson Bros in the late 1950’s, a popular upholstery business which is now run by Carl’s father and brother.

Carl has seen business at Hendersons boosted not only by the relocation and capacity for growth in Stokesley but thanks to work with letting agents and builders on property refurbishments and work in the hospitality sector.

The company employs three members of staff and a number of sub-contractors.

Speaking about his tenth year in business, Carl Henderson said: “The last few years have certainly been challenging but we’re really pleased that we took the plunge and decided to relocate when we did as it has really helped business. Our customers- domestic and commercial- value our personal, consistent service delivered by time-served, reliable workmen. Stokesley is a great location for our business as we’re now serving a much wider area than in previous years and working with a greater range of clients with a wide variety of budgets.”
