Newcastle restaurant owner up for national award
A Newcastle-based Punjabi restaurateur has been nominated for a national award recognising outstanding customer service skills.
Luigikhan’s restaurant owner Jhangir Khan has been recognised by The English Curry Awards, and is amongst only five nominees throughout the country put forward for the Maitre D of the Year award. He is the only nominee from the North East.
Jhangir said: “It’s an honour to be one of very few up for such a great award. To know that I can make a lasting impression on my customers really makes all of the hard work worthwhile.”
The award reflects outstanding customer service skills and recognises excellent front of house operations within a restaurant, as well as celebrating those who go to extra effort to ensure that every customer is left satisfied.
Jhangir said: “This acknowledgement reflects all of the hard work put into Luigikhan’s over the past three years, as well as supporting what customers say both in person and in reviews such as on TripAdvisor.”
Luigikhan’s, Westgate Road, is currently rated 3rd best Indian restaurant in Newcastle by TripAdvisor, and has received over 80 ratings of excellence and many five star customer reports on the site.
The world’s largest travel site has also awarded Luigikhan’s with the Certificate of Excellence 2013, which is only given to the top 10% of businesses listed on TripAdvisor. The award celebrates outstanding hospitality businesses which receive consistent praise and recognition by customers.
