Falconry firm set to hit the heights
Gedanken, the personal development, coaching, mentoring and business support organisation based in Houghton-le-Spring played host to one of its corporate clients in an unusual event that was strictly for the birds!
Gedanken is working with Durham Falconry to redevelop its business and use the skills within the firm to move into stronger corporate markets and therapeutic activities.
At an event held at the eVolve centre at Houghton-le-Spring, Durham Falconry managing director Phil Niall and one of his staff undertook a demonstration of controlling birds of prey, including falcons, owls and hawks.
Companies resident of eVolve and invited guests were able to see a range of falconry skills and have a chance to get close up to and in some cases hold the birds.
Phil Niall said: “We’ve been delighted that Gedanken invited us to this display today and for the support the company has given us. We have found a range of ideas and market opportunities that we might not have explored, but for Gedanken’s support. We hope over the next few months to be able offer a whole range of offerings to companies and to therapeutic organisations such as the NHS. We are very keen to get the message out there that this experience works on so many levels.”
David Cliff, managing director of Gedanken said: “Birds of prey offer a whole range of learning potential, both in the corporate sense with building teams and understanding power and control, and in the psychotherapeutic sense, for understanding power, aggression, control and self-mastery. Whether it is team building or growing self-confidence, working with a bird of prey can be an enriching and invaluable experience. We’ve been delighted to work with Phil and his staff on this business expansion project.”
