£1.4m Merseyside housing refurbishment scheme set for go-ahead

Work is set to commence on a £1.4m programme of improvement works at two Liverpool sheltered housing complexes.

The schemes for Alderwood Lodge in Speke and Meadow Court in Woolton have the go-ahead after a refurbishment specialist was appointed.

Housing Association Liverpool Mutual Homes, who run the complexes, has appointed Lovell Homes to start work in September.

The 29 week programme will include the construction of new entrance areas and refurbishment of corridor and communal areas at the two sheltered housing schemes.

Residents will continue living in their homes during the work with the experienced Lovell team liaising closely with them to minimise disruption.

Lovell regional director Nigel Yates says: “Having worked extensively with LMH throughout the housing association’s initial four-year improvement programme framework, we are delighted to have been selected for this new contract.

“Residents will see real benefits to their living environment and we will continue our commitment to investing in local communities by using local subcontractors to work with us.”

LMH recently hired Lovell to carry out similar refurbishment work at its Dingle Grange and Whiteoak Lodge housing schemes.

The companies are also collaborating on a project in Barlow Street, Walton, north Liverpool, building 18 homes which will be the housing association’s first new-build properties.
