Shipley's Just Desserts agrees distribution deal
Shipley’s Just Desserts has established a wholesale distribution partnership with Stokesley-based Crofters Foods.
Crofters Foods, wholesale distributors for SME high quality food manufacturers in the North of England, will introduce a core range of 50 premium handmade products from Just Desserts.
Crofters Foods will cover North East up to Newcastle and also East Yorkshire, targeting farm shops, speciality and foodservice customers.
Commenting on the alliance James O’Dwyer, managing director of Just Desserts, said: “We selected Crofters Foods because it focuses on high end products made in Yorkshire. We looked to partner with a wholesale distributor that is passionate about our products and works with both retail and foodservice customers.
“We run our own temperature controlled vehicles and have recently added another to our fleet, which currently services only the Yorkshire region, so this partnership will support our expansion plans.”
Grahame Armitage, managing director, Crofters Foods said: “We are delighted to be working with Just Desserts, which has a great track record and reputation for producing the highest quality desserts handcrafted at its Yorkshire bakery.
“This collaboration brings our customers greater product choice and provides them with beautiful handmade products that they can be proud to call their own. We look forward to developing a long term relationship with James and his team to increase sales.”
Just Desserts was established by James O’Dwyer and his wife Carol in 1985 when they made their first handmade cake at the famous Salts Mill, Saltaire, Bradford and has since gained a first class reputation for providing the hospitality and food service industry with a range of premium desserts and quiche.
The company now boasts 20 staff and moved to larger premises in Shipley in 1989 to meet demand, before expanding further in 2007, investing in the business to double the size of its base.
