AMRC and Lanner join forces to support best practice in manufacturing

Lanner, a provider of predictive simulation technology for maximised performance and optimised resources, has joined the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), which already has a partnership with Boeing.

The agreement will see Lanner provide its WITNESS predictive simulation platform for use within AMRC’s R&D activities, whilst increasing awareness of the benefits of the software amongst its member community.

Working out of Rotherham’s Advanced Manufacturing Park, AMRC is a world-class centre for advanced machining and materials research for aerospace and other high-value manufacturing sectors. It is a partnership between industry and academia, which has become a model for research centres globally.

With around 70 members, AMRC works with manufacturing businesses ranging from local SMEs to global aerospace giants. Through its role in the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, it supports growth in the local manufacturing sector by helping organisations incubate and develop new technologies through to commercial reality.

Rab Scott, head of simulation and visualisation said: “We are delighted to welcome Lanner as modelling and simulation are an increasingly important part of 21st century manufacturing and its expertise and software allow us to develop simulation models of new processes and facilities and quickly demonstrate their impact to our partners on productivity and cost savings.

David Jones, CEO of Lanner, added: “Continued reports of increased output and upgraded forecasts from manufacturers are hugely encouraging and are testament to the resilience and innovation demonstrated by the sector” comments.”

“Process technologies can substantially improve the way in which organisations operate and service their customers, and we are delighted to be working with such a highly acclaimed organisation to support best practice, and raise awareness of the role predictive simulation can play in driving process innovation in manufacturing.”
