New face at Wordsworth Trust

Cumbria’s Wordsworth Trust has appointed a new trustee – David Heal, chairman of Liverpool PR firm Paver Smith.

Based at Wordsworth’s Lake District home, Dove Cottage in Grasmere, The Wordsworth Trust brings art and literature alive for tens of thousands of people every year.

The independent charity works to preserve the legacy of the nation’s greatest Romantic poets by enabling public access to Wordsworth’s historic cottage, which houses the largest collection of works by the poet and collections from other significant writers and artists of the period.

As well as paying homage to the past, the Trust also celebrates the present; hosting and supporting contemporary poets and honing budding poets’ skills through workshops and other activities.

David, who resides in West Wales, is a former daily newspaper journalist who grew public relations agency Harrison Cowley into the UK’s largest independent PR agency before selling it to Huntsworth.

He is a long time advocate of the Arts and his passion for the scenic beauty of the Lake District coupled with his love of literature and extensive industry experience, make him the perfect fit for the board of one of the UK’s most significant cultural organisations.

Michael Mcgregor, Director of the Wordsworth Trust, said: “I am delighted that David, a long-standing supporter of The Wordsworth Trust, has joined our board. His business acumen, combined with a passion for literature, will be a great asset.”
