Shortlist announced for first ever Merseyside Independent Business Awards
The nominations are in and the brightest independent businesses in the region are now eagerly waiting to see who the winners will be at the inaugural MIB Awards.
Launched in association with Liverpool law firm Morecrofts to recognise the best of Merseyside’s thriving independent business scene, the shortlist for the MIB Awards has now been announced.
Determined by an independent panel of regional business people, including Jenny Stewart, Chief Operating Officer at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, Bill Addy, Chairman of The BID Company, Jackie Williams, Director of Enterprise at The Women’s Organisation and Dick Mawdsley, Director of Utility, the shortlists were decided by consensus.
The finalists will now be assessed by a second independent judging panel. The award winners will be announced at a gala dinner at the Secret Space on October 3.
So impressive were the number of entries from fledgling enterprises that the original judging panel created a new category for the awards, Best Start-up Business.

Bill Addy of The BID Company said: “It’s fantastic to see the strength and breadth of thriving independent businesses in Liverpool, but it hasn’t made our job easy in deciding the short lists.
“Independent business is the lifeblood of our region, and so many of the businesses nominated are demonstrating such success that it has been a real struggle narrowing the lists down.
However, we are now confident that we have a short list that represents the very best of Merseyside Independent Business.“
The Merseyside Independent Business Awards are backed by Morecrofts in their 200th anniversary year, and it is hoped will impart their legacy on the region.
