NE spa continues to bubble with success

The North East premier 5* luxury spa has again been named as one of the best in the UK after retaining its five industry ‘bubbles’, the equivalent to achieving five stars.

Rockliffe Hall in Hurworth, County Durham was given its five bubbles by the Good Spa Guide who commented, “We loved the dazzling swimming pool and the exceptional hydrotherapy suite. The spa butler service is wonderfully decadent, too. We didn’t love the fact that 24 hours just wasn’t long enough to fully explore everything Rockliffe has to offer. Every element of our experience was luxurious, and the attention to detail made this a pretty perfect spa stay. The facilities are first class, the staff are outstanding, and the indulgent treatments are well worth travelling for.”

The Good Spa Guide is considered the expert guide to the best spas and treatments and all establishments must undergo a thorough assessment process. The trademark bubbles indicate their overall impression of each spa with ‘one bubble’ described as ‘shocking’ and ‘five bubbles’ representing ‘fantastic’.

Rockliffe Hall’s 50,000 square feet spa includes a 20 meter leisure pool, a thermal bathing suite with a tepidarium, caldarium, roman and heat saunas, tropicarium, hydropool and ice fountain, sound wave therapy beds and an extensive range of signature treatments using some of the most luxurious products available from names such as Murad, Comfort Zone and Leighton Denny.

Earlier this year, the spa was named as one of the Top 20 in Europe by the Sunday Times while TripAdvisor users voted it as one of the ‘World’s Greatest Hotel Spas’- coming ninth in the world and second in the UK alongside big names such as the Sandy Lane Hotel in Barbados and the Shangri-La in Vancouver and the Corinthia Hotel’s spa in London.

Liz Holmes, spa director at Rockliffe Hall, said: “This is the third year in succession that we’ve been awarded five bubbles which is a tremendous accolade for the team. It really does mean that we’re the best of the best as we had to undergo a really strict review process. The spa is going from strength to strength and we’ve got some exciting developments in the pipeline.”
