Digital agency helps put Blackpool in better light
VisitBlackpool, is working with Manchester digital agency Code Computerlove to create a campaign ahead of the big illuminations switch-on.
The tourism group is seeking to dispel negative perceptions of the resort by turning the clock back to more innocent times when the annual illuminations were a major attraction for all the family.
Visit Blackpool is asking families to submit videos and photos of their best Blackpool moments to a website via an app - for the chance to win prizes themes around the town. The most popular entries will win.
Participants are also encouraged to share the videos and pics on their own social networks in an attempt to create online buzz around the campaign. The seaside resort’s popularity as a family destination has faded in recent years with traditional holidaymakers edged out by hen parties, stag groups and boozy day trippers.
Neil Greaves, digital marketing manager for Visit Blackpool, said: ““The campaign is designed to encourage word of mouth recommendation through fun and highly sharable user generated content and to engage wider audiences within social channels.” The campaign, developed in partnership with Code Computerlove, runs until November.
