The opportunity to own a piece of brand industry history
A rare opportunity has arisen to take ownership of iconic and historic brands in the drink, meat, nursery and homeware sectors.
Well-known brands have been put up for sale following the administration of current owner, The Brand Cellar Limited.
The new owner will acquire the brand names and all related intellectual property in these brands. The iconic brands include Dewhurst Master Butcher, Denby Dale Pie, Zorbit, Land of Nod, Carrickmhor and other drink associated names.
The Brand Cellar specialised in snapping up well-respected but ‘lost’ or failing brands and was set up in 2011 by a group of marketing executives and entrepreneurs, including the former chairman of Wembley Stadium Sir Rodney Walker.
Brands it took on included everything from Dewhurst Butchers, which had 1,400 shops at its peak, Denby Dale Pie Company to Zorbit, the 1920s pioneer of terry towelling nappies and Glen Rossie, a 200-year old whisky brand.
The brands have been put up for sale by Fox Lloyd Jones, which is disposing of the assets of The Brand Cellar Limited following its administration. Interested parties are invited to submit offers and it is hoped a sale can be agreed quickly.
Stephen Jones at Fox Lloyd Jones, said: “It’s very rare an opportunity like this comes along. These iconic brands brings with it a heritage and history which took decades to build, and many people still remember them very fondly.
“The brand awareness is already there, it just needs someone to take it on and use it in a way that resonates with the modern day consumer. There is huge potential for the right company or investor to acquire these and develop them.”
