Onyx Group celebrates 10th anniversary of Newcastle centre
Data Centre & IT Infrastructure provider Onyx Group has marked another milestone in its success, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the opening of its first data centre in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Onyx Group, which is headquarted in Stockton-on-Tees, is a real success story that has risen from a regional, home grown IT company to a national technology provider with 10 sites across the UK and a turnover expected to reach £20m by the end of 2013.
Neil Stephenson, CEO at Onyx Group said: “The tenth anniversary of our Newcastle data centre is an important milestone in the history of Onyx as it was the first of our five data centres to open its doors. Onyx remains a North East company at heart and we wanted to recognise this with the celebration of our Newcastle data centre opening.”
The 220-rack facility was the first data centre in the world to acquire the ISO 27001 accreditation for information security, recognising Onyx Group’s desire to set the highest industry standards and its commitment to ensuring the security and integrity of its customers’ data.
Stephenson continued: “We are proud that over the last ten years, from our base in the North East, we have been able to set the highest industry standards for the rest of the world to follow. We can now list major firms among our customer base, which spans the professional and financial services, education, public sector, manufacturing and housing sectors.
A specialist in Data Centre, Cloud, Business Continuity and IT Security solutions, Onyx Group has 10 sites throughout the UK including London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Teesside and Sheffield. It serves some of the UK’s best known businesses and was recently listed in The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 and The Investec 100 which both monitor the fastest growing technology companies in the UK.
