‘Sheffield made’ retailer enjoys interest from 145 countries
Sheffield’s reputation for top quality craftsmanship and high class products continues to have worldwide appeal, according to the owner of The Famous Sheffield Shop.
Paul Iseard, who has owned and managed the Ecclesall Road store since 2001, has seen orders from over 145 countries via the shop’s website in the past twelve months and he believes that Sheffield’s popularity as a high quality manufacturing centre shows no sign of slowing.
He said: “We only sell products that have been made here in the steel city and emphasise Sheffield craftsmanship in silver and steel.
“To have interest from so many people across the world is a great indicator that Sheffield’s reputation is in rude health and that – contrary to popular belief – the city is continuing to produce lots of top quality products.”
Paul also reports that the store has become a tourist destination, with visitors to the city joining locals to learn more about the products Sheffield is famous for, such as silverware and cutlery.
The business marks its 30thanniversary this month and as part of the celebrations, has had a Famous Sheffield Shop hallmark created in collaboration with the Sheffield Assay Office which will be used on a range of products in the shop. It is also hosting a special event today to give its suppliers the chance to meet with Master Cutler, Neil MacDonald, and Lord Mayor, Vickie Priestley, as part of a celebration of Sheffield craftsmanship.
Paul added: “The success of our store depends on the quality of the products we are able to source and we are delighted to play our part in maintaining and advancing Sheffield’s reputation on an international scale.”
The Famous Sheffield Shop first opened its doors in 1983 and is marking its 30th anniversary with a celebration event for its suppliers to recognise the enduring success of the steel city in the silversmithing, metallurgy and manufacturing industries.
