Support agencies gather for free start up event in Durham
Entrepreneurs looking to either start a new business or grow an existing one can get access to top free advice at an event in Durham this weekend.
Start Up Durham is a brand new event where you can find out more about starting and growing a business within County Durham.
Run by CDC Enterprise Agency and supported by Business Durham, the event will showcase a combination of the support offered to new and growing businesses from both public and private sector providers within the County.
The debut event is being held at Durham Town Hall in the city’s Market Place on Saturday (September 28), from 10am until 3pm, and will feature some of the North East’s leading business support organisations.
“We know how hard it is to start up and to develop a new business, and finding people who can help can be difficult too,” said Joe Murray, chief executive of CDC Enterprise Agency.
“That’s why we’ve brought everyone together under one roof that you can come and talk to the people who are ready to support you and your business whether it’s to just get things off the ground or to take your business to the next level.
“This is a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate why now is such a great time to start a business.
“There’s a fantastic amount of support available and County Durham is building a thriving community of new entrepreneurs and business owners.
“It’s a really exciting project that we’re proud to be a part of.”
Exhibitors at Saturday’s event will include CDC Enterprise Agency, South Durham Enterprise Agency, Durham Business Club, NBSL, Creative Durham, Princes Trust, CT Web, Perspective Business Centre, Pinetree Trust and more.
The event is entirely free of charge and alongside those businesses exhibiting there will be four top speakers presenting on topics including social media, PR, social enterprise and enterprise skills.
Gary Chaplin, enterprise development manager for Business Durham, added: “Business Durham believes County Durham is a great place for people to start a business. It is vibrant and offers lots of exciting opportunities.
“This kind of event offers you a chance to meet all of the people who can help you start up your business all under one roof!”
Firms or individuals can register for the event free by calling 0191 389 2648, or register online at www.startupdurham.co.uk
