Yorkshire businesses urged to bid for work on new Scarborough development
Scarborough companies are being encouraged to submit tenders for work on a multi-million pound, 121-home development close to the town at Eastfield, by Yorkshire-based housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat, the developer behind the Middle Deepdale scheme.
Painters and decorators, cleaners and wall tilers in particular are needed for work on the housing scheme.
A ‘Meet the Developer’ event was held recently by Keepmoat and Job Match, which is supported by Scarborough Borough Council and Groundwork North Yorkshire, to allow local firms to find out more about opportunities for work.
With the deadline for tenders now extended until Friday 4th October, there is still time for businesses in and around the coastal town to benefit from the opportunities being created by the development.
The first phase will see a £7 million, 60-apartment extra care complex for the over 55s. This will be followed by the wider development of 350 new homes, primary school, community hall, footpaths, open public spaces and a link road connecting the A64 and A165 on an area currently used as farmland over the next 10 – 15 years.
Mark Knight, new build managing director for Keepmoat, said: “Middle Deepdale is a major project, which will provide millions of pounds worth of work and we want to make sure that as much of that work as possible is kept within the immediate area.
“We want to use local businesses to provide the services needed for the development to ensure that this investment is benefiting the people living in the local community.”
Any businesses wishing to find out more about the opportunities available, or pick up a tender pack, should visit the Eastfield Job Match Office at High Street, Eastfield, Scarborough, YO11 3LJ, call 01723 357 060 or email scarborough.jobmatch@groundwork.org.uk.
