Former social centre sold at auction

The former Bromborough social centre, on Forwood Road, has sold at auction for £75,000 this month.

The vacant property was one of a number of commercial and residential properties up for sale at Pugh and Company September auction at Liverpool’s Aintree Racecourse on the 10th September.

Ideal for developers, the detached, single story building was one of three properties sold on behalf of Wirral Council following a new three-year partnership between auctioneers Pugh and the local authority.

The former Rake Lane cemetery depot was the most successful lot of the day selling for almost double its £20-25,000 guide price at £48,000.

Also sold at the auction on behalf of Wirral Council was the Citizens Advice Bureau building on New Chester Road. The former council office had a bottom guide price of £40,000 and went under the hammer for £45,000.

Paul Thompson, director and auctioneer at Pugh and Company, said: “Our September commercial and residential lots proved to be the most successful of the year so far in terms of pre-auction sales and packed out auction venues resulted in a fantastic £10.4million total sales figure from our four venues across the North.”

“The demand for great investment and development properties is ever increasing and more buyers are flocking to auction to benefit from the quicker completion timescale and security of sale.

“We’re delighted with the sale of the former Wirral council lots and look forward to seeing what the new owners have planned for the buildings.”

Pugh and Company has secured almost £60million in sales at its four regional auction venues so far this year with a success rate of 70%.
