Blue Rainbow gets the green light for eco-tourism award
Blue Rainbow Aparthotels – a collection of 4* and 5* boutique serviced apartments – has been awarded with a Green Tourism award for its most recently opened hospitality site.
The Manchester-based aparthotel, – Blue Rainbow High St, located on the edge of the city’s popular Northern Quarter – was recognised with a bronze award from the Green Tourism Business scheme for its green credentials and business practices.
Will Hannah, managing director at Blue Rainbow Aparthotels, said: “We’re delighted to be recognised as one of the few aparthotels in the UK to be officially accredited for our green efforts, under the Green Tourism Business scheme.”
The High St location was praised for its energy and water efficiency, in particular the aparthotel’s modern and eco-friendly equipment, including: hot water tanks, low energy lighting and dual flush toilets.
Hannah continued: “We’re extremely passionate about supporting green issues within hospitality industry. We also understand that it’s an increasingly important consideration for our guests too.
“The next audit will take place in 2015 and we have already actioned many of the points raised in the official report, so we’ll hopefully be on track for the silver, or even the gold award next time.”
The Manchester High Street location was launched in April 2012. It is located on the edge of the city’s popular Northern Quarter and has 19 1-bed and 2-bed apartments across five floors of this stylish building and retains some original features, including wooden beams. It offers saver, executive and premium accommodation, with prices also from £64 per night.
Blue Rainbow Aparthotels plans to add another 560 rooms across the group, including sites in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds and is looking into expanding its offerings to include onsite dining facilities alongside some of its properties.
Will concludes: “It’s Blue Rainbow’s plan to continue our green roll-out on all the future locations that we develop and launch. It’s our aim to become one of leading green aparthotel venues across the UK.”
