Sweet success as Real Good Food clinches two new deals

Liverpool ingredients manufacturer The Real Good Food Company has announced two new supply contracts.

The Toxteth-based firm said its subsidiary Napier Brown has secured two major new contracts from supermarket giant Asda and food wholesaler Booker.

They begin later this month and include the supply of more than 60 separate product lines, including the Whitworths everyday and specialist ranges, “Whitworths for Baking”, as well as a number of new product lines targeting specific consumer needs.

They will create 80 new jobs in West Yorkshire, the company said.

Whitworths Sugar has become the fastest growing brand in the sugar category following a re-launch of the brand last year and the introduction of the “Whitworths for Baking” range in summer 2012.

The group’s chairman Pieter Totté told investors: “I am delighted by the success of John Tanner and his team at Napier Brown in securing these important new contracts, which represents the culmination of 18 months’ hard work.

“We look forward to building our relationships with both Asda and Booker and believe that the Whitworths brand still has huge growth potential.”

Meanwhile, Napier Brown’s “Sugar Hub”, the £3.5 million development in new sugar handling facilities at Humberside, is due to be completed by the end of the current year.

It will deal with bulk sugar shipments and their onward distribution to food manufacturers and other customers across the north of England.
