UK Coal steps in to help wildlife charity
A recent minor collapse had created a sinkhole at Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s Hauxley nature reserve had opened up a 20ft hole which was allowing water to escape from the small Hauxley lake down into it. This was in a wildlife only area.
The collapse resulted in the wildlife charity having to fill the hole and landscape the whole area. In doing this, a new wetland area has been created which will hopefully develop into a helpful habitat for wading birds.
The remediation work was made possible with help from UK Coal who provided free technical and on-site assistance to ensure that the work was carried out swiftly to avoid unnecessary disruption to visitors and wildlife.
