Specialist event aims to answer cosmetic surgery questions

Four consultant surgeons from one of the North East’s top private hospitals are coming to Alnwick to talk to people who are considering cosmetic surgery and answer any questions they may have.

Spire Washington Hospital’s Cosmetic Roadshow is offering free one-to-one sessions for anyone interested in finding out more about what procedures are available and whether they are right for them. The event, from 10pm to 3pm on Saturday 26 October, will be held at The Hog’s Head Inn.

Chloe Senneck, business development manager from Spire Washington Hospital said: “Demand for cosmetic procedures is continuing to rise but we know that people have a lot of questions, whether they’ve firmly made up their mind about going ahead, or whether it’s something they are only starting to consider.

“The idea of the roadshow is to give people the opportunity to get answers in free 10-minute chats with our consultant surgeons, who are all experienced specialists covering the range surgical and non-surgical treatments that are available at Spire Washington Hospital.”

The day will cover all the information people need when thinking about the potentially life-changing impact a cosmetic procedure can have, from whether they are suitable for surgery to the practicalities of the cost and length of time the operation and recovery period will take. The opportunity to speak to a top consultant aims to help people decide whether to take their plans to the next stage and book a full consultation with one of Spire Washington’s specialists.

Chloe added: “Cosmetic surgery is not something anyone should take lightly which is one of the key messages we always emphasise. The objective is to ensure that people are as informed as possible so they can make a decision based on the facts and figures appropriate to them.”

There were a total of 43,172 surgical cosmetic procedures carried out in the UK last year. Figures from British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) showed that breast augmentation remains the UK most popular cosmetic procedure, although anti-ageing surgery including eyelid, face and neck lifts are all growing in popularity.

The Alnwick Roadshow will be attended by Mr Ahmed Ali-Khan, whose particular interest is cosmetic breast and abdominal surgery, and surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation; Mr Thomas Collin who works on all aspects of plastic and aesthetic surgery, including breast reconstruction; Mr Neil McLean, an expert in cosmetic procedures for both the face and body; and Mr Jerry Ryan, a specialist in facial cosmetic surgery and the management of facial skin cancer. Members of the customer service team from the hospital, the region’s second largest private hospital and part of the 38-hospital Spire Healthcare Group, will also be on hand to talk to visitors.

The event is expected to be busy and spaces are limited. Anyone who wants to reserve a free place can do so by calling 0191 418 8627.
