Surf’s up as Saltrock splashes into Royal Quays

British clothing brand, Saltrock is creating waves as it opens its first store in the north of England at Royal Quays Outlet Centre, North Shields.

Saltrock, a top quality surfing specialist, is hugely popular with 15 stores located in the south of the country. This latest addition is set to be a huge hit with the North East’s surfing community.

The first store was opened in Cornwall in the 1980s, when two brothers -Angus and Ross - who were travelling the world, arrived in the UK, looking for a venture to fund their love of surfing. They headed to the south west coast and put their artistic talents to good use by screen - printing and selling t-shirts on the beach.

To this day, Saltrock offers a taste of the British coastline for all the family, with an emphasis on top quality clothing and accessories.

Sean Burch, Head of online and retail at Saltrock, said “We chose Royal Quays as a location to open the new store as it is an ideal spot to tap into the North East surfing community.

“We have a great bunch of people working in the new store, which is headed up by Store Manager, Sarah Burns, who has a variety of retail experience under her belt.”

28-year-old Sarah from North Shields, said: “I was delighted to be appointed as Store Manager, having worked at Royal Quays in the past I am happy to be back.

“I have a team of seven people working with me and it is a great place to work. As well as beach apparel we have a fantastic winter range in-store for men, women and children including our new winter jackets and accessories such as backpacks and wallets to choose from.

“Our customers can benefit from some brilliant deals and we have had a great reaction to the new store.”

Judith Ramshaw, Royal Quays Centre Manager, said: “As Newcastle’s only outlet centre, we pride ourselves on being able to welcome new names to the centre.

“Saltrock will provide our customers with the variety we are renowned for and we are delighted that they chose the centre for their first store in the north of England.”
