Warrington venue for Hillsborough disaster inquests
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has chosen MEPC’s Birchwood Park in Warrington has the base from which it will condust a full inquest into the Hillsborough disaster.
A MoJ team will begin fitting out the space before Christmas in order to meet the Coroner’s intention to start the inquestss by March 31 2014.
Occupying 15,457 sq ft on the ground floor, 305 Bridgewater Place will house the hearing room and the Inquests Team for the duration of the Inquests themselves.
David Thwaites from GVA who advised the MoJ, commented: “In view of the high profile nature of the inquests and the interest it is likely to generate an easily accessible building was essential.
“Birchwood and Bridgewater Place in particular was the obvious choice due to the buildings excellent transport links and car parking facilities in addition to its wide range of on-site amenities.”
