Spooktacular pumpkin carving at Dunelm

Halloween has come early here at Dunelm Homes, to celebrate the spooky holiday we will be turning our Thinford Gardens development into a pumpkin carving factory with free fun-filled demonstrations to show visitors how to carve the perfect pumpkin, with local artist Emma Shankland.

Emma will be appearing at Thinford Gardens in Spennymoor on 26th and 27th October to offer visitors useful advice and guidance on how to design and carve your own ghoulish Halloween pumpkins – with all children receiving a free pumpkin to practice on at home. Visitors to the development, which features a range of stylish three and four bedroom homes, will be able to watch Emma create a range of fun and ghoulish characters at her drop-in sessions during the day. Following the demonstration, each person will be given their very own pumpkin to take home and put their new-found skills into practice to create a Halloween lantern masterpiece for themselves.

Colin Willetts, sales and marketing manager at Dunelm Homes said; “Lots of parents will have been faced with the request for a beautifully carved pumpkin at this time of year and for many this can be a real challenge. Emma has created some wonderful designs and will be able to take people through some simple steps so they can produce their very own work of lantern art. Decorating your home is an important part of any special occasion or celebration and with Halloween being a fun time for both adults and children this is an ideal way for families to start the festivities.”

Emma Shackleton added; “Pumpkin carving can be as simple or as complex as you wish and can produce some very fun and striking results. It’s a great activity to do with children and really builds the excitement for Halloween. The demonstrations will show not only some useful design tricks, but we will be sharing important safety information on how to use the carving tools properly so people can make their very own Hallowe’en pumpkins to light up their home.”

Emma will be holding free demonstrations on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th October between 11am and 3pm at Thinford Gardens which is located on Enterprise Way in Spennymoor. For further information please contact the sales office on 01388 811 941 which is open 10am to 5pm Thursday to Monday.
