SONE scoop £200k toothpick contract

Stanley-based SONE Products Ltd (SONE), has secured a contract from German firm Curaden International AG (Curaden) to supply over 66 million coloured plastic toothpicks and packaging.

The deal follows a major investment programme at its North East plant on new injection blow moulding equipment to be used in the manufacture of new product lines.

With a value in excess of £200k annually, SONE will manufacture over 66 million toothpicks along with plastic containers for retail across Scandinavia.

Speaking about selecting SONE to produce these products, Curaden’s international sales director, Richard Thomas said: “We decided to work with SONE for a number of reasons, namely because of the improved cost effectiveness and more beneficial production and delivery solutions they were able to offer. We have also found the team to be extremely professional at all levels, providing us with a seamless transition process to bring the manufacturing to the UK.”

SONE’s, business development manager Tony Burnell, added: “Working on behalf of Curaden gives us a great opportunity to demonstrate the full extent of our high service level as well as our growing range of capabilities and competitiveness. We are confident of building a strong and lasting relationship with this client and many others in the dental and oral hygiene sectors.”

Other examples of the type of products manufactured by SONE are mascaras, eyeliners and lip-gloss packs for the cosmetics industry. Each unit is produced using both plastic injection and extrusion blow moulding processes and in the near future injection blow moulding processes.

SONE design, develops, manufactures, decorates and brands the components and completes the process by assembling the applicators ready for distribution to a global market.
