Elanders take on manufacturing apprentice and buck the region’s trend

With the number of apprenticeships in the North East reported to be falling dramatically, Elanders are happy to announce that they are continuing to fill the skills gap by training young people in manufacturing roles in the region through apprenticeship schemes.

Working with Tyne North Training to identify young people in the region looking for work, Elanders Ltd have recently employed 19 year old Jamie Reynolds from Wallsend. Jamie will take up a yearlong apprenticeship scheme with Elanders and will learn valuable skills in the finishing department of the North Tyneside plant.

Jamie said, ‘I applied to Tyne North Training for the apprenticeship with Elanders because it is a great company with drive and ambition and I felt that suited me and my own ambitions very well. I’m really looking forward to learning more about the working environment here and getting to experience all aspects of production’.

Before applying for the position at Elanders, Jamie had worked briefly in a temporary role and when this ended, began claiming benefits. When he approached Tyne North Training, he was given the opportunity to participate in a Pre-Apprenticeship course which would give him the tools and a Level 2 qualification which would make him ideally suited to become a Manufacturing Apprentice with Elanders. After the two week course Jamie was quickly put forward for the position at Elanders and was thrilled to become part of the team.

He commented; ‘Once the apprenticeship has finished, I hope to be given further opportunities and experiences within Elanders and contribute to their passion to succeed and grow as a business’.

Elanders Ltd is a business located in North Tyneside, providing creative, print and digital services to a range of high profile clients across the globe. Managing Director, Kevin Rogers commented;

‘It’s very important for us to bring in new talent to the business, especially as we continue to expand and offer more integrated services to our clients.

We’re also very proud to be helping the region’s young people get into work and develop valuable skills for their future careers. We wish Jamie every success here with Elanders’.
