Former Nike HQ in Sunderland up for sale

Nike’s former UK headquarters office at Sunderland’s Doxford International Business Park is being offered for sale or to let.

The firm moved on to other premises at Doxford Park and now the owners have since completely refurbished the building at 1, Victory Way to offer sub dividable workspace for large or smaller companies looking to expand.

The three storey, 32,000 sq ft building now managed by Commercial Estate Group was designed for Nike when the sportswear giant chose Sunderland as the home of its UK headquarters.

Councillor Harry Trueman, Deputy Leader of Sunderland City Council, said: “Nike and Doxford Park are synonymous with excellence. Nike’s buildings, like its products, have won awards for their innovative design, and these offices are testament to the quality this blue-chip company required for what became its UK headquarters.

“Sunderland is the best location for ambitious companies of any size, and we’re very proud of Doxford’s ability to attract excellent, long-term occupiers.”

1 Victory Way has a central atrium which means light floods the building from top to bottom. Two of the three storeys each offer 12,000 sq ft open plan space, and the second floor is around 8000 sq ft.

Other occupiers at Doxford Park include Barclays, Regus, Arriva, UK Asset Resolution, EDF Energy and Gentoo.

Tony Wordsworth of joint agents GVA said: “This building offers a great package for occupiers – it’s a large, modern, light, well designed building with easy access to roads, at the heart of a well-known address in the North East. The flexible terms mean that potential occupiers could move in quickly if required, and enjoy its benefits with minimum delay.

“I’m sure this distinctive building will be an excellent choice for a company that understands the importance of an attractive workplace, and how that can motivate employees and create a memorable image of the company in visitors’ minds. “

Sunderland City Council’s business investment team offers advice and support to companies moving into the city, and to those looking to expand. Sunderland is one of the country’s most successful business locations with over 8,000 jobs and capital investment totalling £1.5bn secured over the last five years.

Tony Hordon of joint agents DTZ said: “Doxford Park is perennially popular because of its mature landscaping, well maintained public spaces and high occupancy rates. I Victory Way is a key building on the park, and with the high standards of both taken together, it creates a wonderful location for doing business effectively.”
