North East first as funeral director launches smartphone and tablet App

A Sunderland funeral directors has become the first in the North East to launch its own App for smartphones and tablets.

John G Hogg, who own three funeral homes in the city, has just launched the new App which gives valuable help and advice on what to do in the event of a death of a loved one.

The App ties in with a newly launched website which also contains a wide range of helpful advice from how to go about registering a death to what to expect on the day of a funeral.

The award-winning family business sees the launch of the App as a natural progression in keeping customer service at the highest level.

John Hogg said: “Most of us at one stage or another will have to face the difficult task of arranging a funeral for a loved one. Trying to make sense of it all can be challenging at the best of times but even more so when in grief.

“We have designed this handy little App to help people through this very difficult time. There is also a section to post tributes to loves ones.

“As a team we pride ourselves on doing all we can to ease the pain on grieving families and generating the App is another step forward in delivering best service at all times.

“The public are becoming more sophisticated and the increase in smartphones among the 30 to 50 year old age group means we have to adapt.”

The John G Hogg team also plan to add more information to the App in the coming months such as church times and links to Google maps to show where a service is taking place.

Another unique part of the App is a page for making donations to the charity in memory of loves ones. This enables people to make the donation direct to the charity of the bereaved choice without the hassle of handling cash and envelopes. The App also contains the facility to upload obituaries and family messages.
