£43m-worth of contracts shows positivity

Construction and development specialist Southdale has secured more than £40m of new work for housing developments across the North of England.

A total of 11 new projects have been awarded by 10 clients during the last two months, with work scheduled to start between now and January 2014.

Southdale’s North East office, based in Darlington, has secured contracts in Leyburn for Broadacres Housing Association, in Middlesbrough with Fabrick Housing Group and in Stockton with Vela Group, which have a total value of more than £10.5m.

In Yorkshire, projects in Sheffield for Places for People, in Wakefield for Yorkshire Housing, in Leeming for Mulberry Homes and in Doncaster for Jephson Housing Association have a combined value of £20.85m.

In the North West, Southdale has won £11.46m of work. This includes projects for Wulvern Housing in Crewe, Great Places Housing in Salford and Bury, and Peaks & Plains in Disley.

Managing director Paul Moore said: “These contracts help us to build a strong base of work for the next 12 months and show a significant level of positivity and drive in the affordable housing sector across the North of England.

“We are confident that with projects such as these and others across Yorkshire, the North West and North East, we can continue to grow our business as we press on in a more positive economic climate.”

Southdale, based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, is a national affordable housing specialist providing new build, planned maintenance and refurbishment services to a range of registered providers and local authorities, and also has offices in Darlington, Warington and Castle Donington in the Midlands.
