Photo for youth competition
International and local photographers are to showcase their work at the inaugural ‘Photo For Youth’ exhibition organised by the Merseyside Youth Association held at Liverpool’s Albert Dock.
‘Photo For Youth’, curated by renowned photographer and artist Viktorija Grigorjevaite, will launch on Thursday 7 November with a glittering champagne and canapé reception and live entertainment attended by the city’s movers and shakers.
What follows will be an exhibition running from 8-17 November with all money raised going directly to Merseyside Youth Association to support their projects in youth work, counselling and mentoring for young people aged 7-25.
The chosen media partner for the event is the largest arts, style, travel and business publication in the North West, The Collective Magazine.
Editor, Lee Joseph Hagan said: “I am offering my support to this project as I believe the work carried out by MYA is vital. They go above and beyond constantly striving to do the best they can in offering support and guidance to youths often living in very negative circumstances. Together we can all shed some light and what better way to do that than through art and community.”
Gill Bainbridge, Chief Executive of MYA said: “We are excited to bring this unique event to the Albert Dock. At MYA we aim to create positive and lasting change in the lives of Merseyside’s young people and this event will help us in our work supporting 5000 young people a year. We would like to thank all the photographers who have donated their work, our corporate partners Mason Owen Financial Services, Remstone Ltd and LWA Chartered Accountants and the Albert Dock Company for donating the exhibition space.”
Graham Cook, director of Albert Dock Company said: “Albert Dock prides itself on being a family attraction, so we didn’t have to think twice when asked to host Merseyside Youth Association’s new Photo For Youth exhibition. The MYA works tirelessly in the local community and we are delighted to get involved in their efforts. The new exhibition promises to be a fantastic addition to the dock’s offer as a tourist destination, not to mention a wonderful opportunity for the area’s budding photographers to showcase their talents.”
More announcements will be made in the coming days.
