Stack expo will show businesses how to dramatically cut cost of telecom systems

Aintree-based Stack Group is inviting businesses to a special event at Aintree Racecourse to see how new technology can significantly reduce the cost of business telephone systems.

The Unified Communications and Mobility Expo on Wednesday, November 13 will show how by replacing traditional telecommunications systems with integrated Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems, businesses can make huge savings compared with traditional phone systems while actually improving their service.

According to Stack Group chairman Jeff Orr, switching business telephony into the computer network has many advantages.

“VoIP systems allow desk phones and mobiles to be fully integrated with a user’s computer, allowing complete synchronisation with calendars and messaging with monitoring of presence,” he said. “These systems can even automatically manage calls based on employee’s diary entries such as when they are scheduled to be in meetings or are out of office.

“In addition a user’s location becomes irrelevant as wherever they are they remain a connected part of the system.

“In effect the systems are more advanced and cheaper. Smartphones can now give you your “office in your pocket” seamlessly and there are many products on the market to suit a range of industries – from ruggedised mobile phones for industrial firms to conference calling systems for professional businesses with multiple centres.”

According to one vendor exhibiting at the expo – integrated VoIP specialist Shoretel – it was able to provide an integrated telephony system for firms of 1,500 employees for $20million per year less than other business telephone providers.

The expo, which is aimed specifically at IT or telephony managers, will begin at 9.30am and finish at 2pm. Among the exhibitors will be integrated VoIP specialist Shoretel, hardware provider Icon, system operator Daisy Communications, video conferencing firm Nimans and call logging outfit Oak.
