Firework sparkles for Cheshire 'good food' ambassadors

Cheshire-based Food Dudes has awarded its national PR programme to Firework PR.

Food Dudes is a social enterprise that runs award-winning programmes for schools that are designed to change children’s behaviour towards eating fruit and vegetables.

Following the success of an initial project in September 2013, Firework PR has now been appointed on a retained basis to raise awareness of the organisation’s range of healthy-eating programmes and its success to date in UK schools.

The appointment adds to the Knutsford agency’s strong base of established clients. The start-up agency launched in 2012 with its flagship client, The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, briefed to re-launch the resort following its £15 million development.

The Mere most recently renewed its ongoing retainer in June 2013. Since then, Firework has added a number of retained clients to its roster including two divisions within Advanced Business Solutions – Advanced Ticketing and Advanced NFP (Not-for-Profit) alongside several project based customers.

Eric Hobson, CEO of Food Dudes, said: “When we first approached Firework PR to tender for our business, the team was quick to spot a significant PR opportunity for us.

“Within three days, the team had achieved broadcast coverage for the company and successfully raised our profile on a national basis. This impressive and creative response proved to us their ability to secure results as well as their enthusiasm to win our business.”

Andrea Hounsham, Director of Firework PR said: “Food Dudes is a perfect client for us. They understand how PR can creatively grab the attention of their target audiences. They have an enticing business and consumer story to tell which, when packaged well, has strong media appeal.

“Both Clare and I have young children making us especially interested in telling the story of what Food Dudes is trying to achieve, namely using their proven methods to ensure children have a positive attitude to eating fruit and vegetables whilst having school meals. This makes us more passionate than ever to deliver results that make a difference.”

Food Dudes, also based in Knutsford, originally started out as a series of academic research projects at Bangor University in Wales. After a number of trials, it became a social enterprise with plans to roll out across the UK.
