Niche North East law firm makes top ranking
North East based law firm, McDaniel & Co. (McDaniels), has recently been ranked alongside some of the best law firms in the world.
The ‘City-styled, without City-prices’ niche practice has made it to Band 1 status in The Chambers Guide (Chambers), a respected publication which has been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, and now cover 185 jurisdictions throughout the world.
In order to rank the law firms, Chambers researches a practice and undertakes a rigorous investigative interview process before awarding it with Band 1 status.
McDaniels has made it into Chambers for the work it does within the Intellectual Property (IP) arena. Headed up by co-founder and partner Niall Head-Rapson, the practice a dedicated IP team which currently stands at 18.
Chambers’ research found that Head-Rapson and his team had a particular strength in representing SMEs on all of their IP needs. It also has a strong reputation for its contentious advice across trade-marks, patents and copyright.
This was recently demonstrated when the practice successfully acted for greetings card and gift designer, Caroline Gardner, design-led party accessory specialist Talking Tables, and luggage designer, Picture Case Ltd, all of which appointed McDaniels in relation to a number of Intellectual Property rights claims.
Speaking about being given such high status, Niall said: “I am delighted that Chambers has ranked the practice so high. I feel it reflects the fact that we punch well above our weight and, respects the high calibre of the team.”
