Poundland to open Royal Quays shop
Discount retailer Poundland has announced plans to open a new store in the Royal Quays Outlet Centre, creating a number of new jobs.
Poundland’s trading director, Richard Lancaster, says: “Poundland has grown significantly over the past 12 months and it’s fantastic to see this expansion continuing with a new Poundland Outlet store in the Royal Quays Outlet Centre. We’re looking forward to opening our doors!”
The firm is Europe’s biggest single price discount retailer and sells to over 4.5 million customers every week.
Poundland recently announced that it would create nearly 2,500 temporary Christmas jobs, and has targetted 50 new store openings each year.
In June 2010 the retailer was acquired by private equity outfit, Warburg Pincus, and Poundland retained a minority shareholding.
