Entrepreneur flourishing thanks to postgraduate route

A postgraduate course is enabling a Darlington entrepreneur to develop two business ventures.

Yvonne Cherrington is in the second year of the MBA (Master of Business Administration), studying part-time at Teesside University’s Darlington campus.

Yvonne, of Darlington, runs two businesses – Red Pressures, which provides interim management, coaching and mentoring, and Red Virtual Administrative Services, which offers online business services to help SMEs and micro-businesses move forward.

She said: “The MBA was invaluable in helping me to establish and develop my own businesses and vital in helping to put me a step ahead of my competitors.

“It was challenging at times balancing study with running my own businesses, but the MBA has really helped me to see how to market my businesses and also really helped to increase my confidence.

“It’s great too that we have a University campus on our doorstep in Darlington, which was one of the main reasons I wanted to complete the MBA here. It has helped to achieve so much.”

Teesside University is holding two open days to offer advice to those seeking to progress professionally through further study through a range of postgraduate courses, from digital animation to clinical psychology, forensic science to fraud management.

Along with information about the wide variety of taught postgraduate courses and research degrees, available full-time and part-time at Teesside University, staff and students will also be available to offer advice on applications, careers and funding.

The first open day will be held at Teesside University’s main Middlesbrough campus on Wednesday November 13, from 2pm to 7pm, and can be booked online.

A postgraduate virtual open day will also be held on Thursday December 5, from 1pm to 6pm.
