SENTA awarded contract to deliver Sheffield entrepreneur support
Sheffield Enterprise Agency (SENTA) has been awarded the contract to run part of Sheffield City Council’s enterprise programme, which works with hundreds of people taking their first steps into starting a business.
SENTA, which is part of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, assists those signing up for the programme with areas including creating a business plan, identifying markets and skill requirements.
Drop-in sessions provide individuals with the opportunity to speak to professional advisers face-to-face, while there are also opportunities to attend workshops and networking events.
Workshops include areas of business development such as marketing, social media, accountancy and banking, as well as offering a chance to share best practice.
Suzy Cornwell Ball, enterprise coach at Sheffield Enterprise Agency, said: “The programme supports anyone who has had an idea for a business and wants to take the first steps in making it a reality.
“We have both unemployed and employed people on the programme, of all ages, backgrounds and experiences. It’s for anyone who has identified a gap in the market and wants to look at turning it into a profitable company.
“Starting a company from concept to a fully-fledged operation can take anything between three months to two years.
“We are here to support that process wherever possible, providing guidance and the opportunity to learn new ways of working as well as meeting with potential customers.
“The enterprise initiative provides a pipeline into the business community and is the future economy of Sheffield. It feeds into SENTA’s growth programme which supports profitable and established businesses to take the next step forward.”
