Rural specialists expand planning team

George F. White has recently strengthened its Planning and Development team with the appointment of Ruth Appleby as an APC Planning and Development Surveyor. Based in the Group’s Northumberland Office, Alnwick, Ruth will be working with Richard Garland and his team providing specialist planning and development property advice to clients with a focus on maximising value.

Ruth joins the team having recently graduated from Northumbria University with a First Class Honours Degree in Planning and Development Surveying, where she was awarded the Paul Simpson prize for “Best Final Year Student”.

Ruth says of her new position: “Being born and brought up in the North East it was always my intention to try and find a graduate position with a firm in Northumberland, and so I am delighted to have joined Alnwick’s team at George F White, one of the region’s most established team of Chartered Surveyors and property specialists. In my short time with the company I have been exposed to a wide range of projects; gaining an insight into strategic and development planning, having been involved in large scale residential development sites, public consultation events, agricultural diversification, residential conversions and much more. This is an excellent opportunity to expand on theoretical knowledge gained at university, whilst assisting a diverse range of clients look to the future and successfully develop and enhance the potential of their assets.”

Richard Garland, Partner in charge of the George F White Development Property Team says: “We are delighted to have Ruth join us and her appointment represents an expansion of our team. Her degree means she is ideally placed to advise on promotion, valuation and sale of development property in line with our client’s requirements. We are thrilled that she has been awarded top student in her year in recognition of all her hard work and underlying talent”.

George F. White, which was founded as a team of Chartered Surveyors, established their specialist planning team in 2007. On the back of its success, the team has continued to grow and now offers specialist planning and development consultancy, alongside core surveying and estate agency services to the rural economy.
