Aldermore take the honours at HURST football tournament
Sixteen teams of Greater Manchester professionals raised £2,000 for charity when they took part in the third annual five-a-side football tournament organised by accountancy firm HURST.
The event was held at the new Soccer in the City venue at Castlefield in Manchester city centre.
A team from Aldermore Bank beat Positive Cashflow Finance in the final after a penalty shoot-out.
Aldermore captain Ben Day was voted player of the tournament.
Among those taking part were accountants, lawyers, bankers, wealth managers, insurance brokers, recruiters and insolvency practitioners.
The tournament was organised by HURST’s Ben Bradley.
All proceeds go to the firm’s charity of the year, MedEquip4Kids, which provides paediatric medical equipment and facilities to hospitals and community health teams.
Ben said: “We’ve had some great feedback from the teams that entered, and people have already expressed an interest in next year’s tournament.
“We hope the 2014 event will see even more teams playing to help us raise more money for charity.”
