Linden Homes named housebuilder of the year
Linden Homes has scooped the coveted title ofLarge Housebuilder of the Year at this year’s Housebuilder Awards.
The developer, which has sites at Haltwhistle in Northumberland and Howden Green in County Durham was also named Sustainable Housebuilder of the Year.
This was in recognition of its National Apprentice Programme, The Linden Homes Foundation, as well as championing a pragmatic retrofitting scheme as an option to government’s Code 6 zero-carbon building regulations.
In the North East Linden Homes is also about to start work on 2,500 homes as part of the £350 million Gateshead regeneration project on Tyneside and is proposing a 350 home project in the grounds of the former St George’s Hospital in Morpeth and 18 apartments on the site of its former office in Ponteland.
Linden Homes’ St Nicholasgate development in Beverley, near Hull also received a Highly Commended award for Best Regeneration Project.
The Linden Homes team was also short listed for two additional awards; Best Community Initiative in part for its Ogwell Brook development near Newton Abbot, Devon, which has generated 11 apprenticeships, 73 jobs on site, and where 95 per cent of buyers have come from within 15 miles.
Alongside this, The Linden Way programme was short listed for Best Customer Satisfaction Initiative as a comprehensive drive to standardise best practice and deliver excellence across the company: from planning, through construction to handing over the keys to the homebuyer.
Stephen McCoy, Managing Director with Linden Homes’ parent company in the North East, Galliford Try, said: “We are very proud to be winners and finalists in categories that are central to our business philosophy: customer satisfaction, sustainability, community and regeneration. It is testament to the passion and drive of our people and evidence of our commitment to deliver industry leading homes and service to our customers.”
