Microlease Strengthens Senior Management Team with Three New Board Appointments

Building on its recent rapid expansion, Microlease, the leading test equipment rental and asset management organisation, has further strengthened its senior management team, with the announcement of three key new board level appointments. Rob Gershon joins as Chief Operating Officer, while Mike Clark takes on the Chief Executive Officer role for the Americas region and Peter Spillman becomes Inventory Planning Director.

Based at the company’s Harrow head office, Rob joined the company from Lyceum Capital where he was Portfolio Director with responsibility for appraising, monitoring and managing the organisation’s portfolio of UK mid-market investments from pre-deal stage through to exit. Previously, he was business development manager for Whitbread.

“Rob is a dynamic management and finance professional, with a great track record of forging successful business relationships, driving business transformation within organisations and realising key commercial opportunities,” says Nigel Brown, Chief Executive, Microlease. “We are delighted to have him working for us and we are looking forward to him bringing his extensive skill set to bear in his new role at Microlease.”

Peter Spillman, previously Commercial Director at Microlease, is returning to the company, after a gap of nearly 15 years, to take on the role of Inventory Planning Director. In his new post, Spillman has a remit to maximise the potential of the company’s inventory worldwide.

Spillman originally left Microlease in 1999 to pursue his business interests in completely different business sectors while retaining a close relationship with the company, which included occasional engagements as a consultant. Immediately before re-joining, he was Managing Director of estate planning firm, Chosen Inheritance. In his earlier career, he spent 20 years at GEC-Marconi before being appointed as Commercial Director at Microlease in 1994.

“Peter brings keen analytical skills and commercial acumen coupled with an intuitive understanding of what works in the equipment rental and asset management sectors,” says Brown. “We are delighted to welcome him back and look forward to him playing a major part in our continued success.”

Mike Clark joins Microlease as Chief Executive Officer for the Americas from Airvana, a leading supplier of wireless broadband solutions, where he was Airvana LP’s Senior Executive and General Manager. Prior to Airvana, Clark spent 22 years in the test & measurement industry, serving in various senior management roles at JDS Uniphase, Agilent Technologies, Acterna, Wandel & Goltermann, and Hewlett Packard. Clark has extensive experience in multiple communications markets including wireless and wireline service providers, network equipment manufacturers, and major enterprises across the world.

“Mike’s extensive leadership experience in a broad range of senior sales, marketing, business development and general management roles make him ideally suited to taking on the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Americas with Microlease,” adds Brown. “I am confident he will accelerate the growth of our Americas business and is an excellent addition to the senior management team.”
