Sheffield SIV secures three-year City Hall sponsorship deal

A partnership between Sheffield City Hall and law firm Irwin Mitchell has been extended in a three-year sponsorship deal.

Sheffield International Venues (SIV), which operates the leading concert and conference venue, has secured a deal which will see Irwin Mitchell continue to sponsor the Oval Hall until 2015.

The three-tiered Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall, which seats 2,271 people, has played host to performances by top artists and acts including Westlife, Morrissey, Status Quo, JLS, Lulu and Ronan Keating.

It has also staged high profile conferences and events such as the Liberal Democrat’s Spring Conference and the National Union of Students conference. Annually, the City Hall welcomes 60,000 people for business events and 165,000 for entertainment events.

Irwin Mitchell has held the naming rights for the Oval Hall since 2005.

Paul Firth, Regional Managing Partner of the firm’s Sheffield office, said: “The City Hall is an important Sheffield landmark and we are delighted to extend our long-term support for it for another three years. The sponsorship deal strengthens Irwin Mitchell’s strong links with the city and we look forward to sharing in the Oval Hall’s continued success as a leading music and conference venue.”

With 17 venues and 5.1 million customers every year, SIV operates one of the largest concentrations of diverse elite and community sports and entertainment facilities in Europe.

Steve Brailey, chief executive of SIV, said: “Over the last eight years, we have built a fantastic relationship with Irwin Mitchell and we are delighted to extend the sponsorship deal with the company for a further three years.

“We are proud to be associated with one of the UK’s most successful and respected law firms and we looking forward to growing our partnership in the future.”
