Apadmi’s British Museum App wins at the Event Technology Awards

Apadmi, a leading app developer, has won the ‘Best Mobile App’ category at this year’s Event Technology Awards ceremony.

The awards evening followed the Event Technology Conference, held in central London on the 15th November which saw industry experts speak about the latest technology available to the events industry.

Apadmi’s winning app was commissioned by the British Museum to further the reach of their exhibition, Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum and included a video timeline of events, highly detailed photography of over 250 artefacts, interactive maps and audio and video clips. The app was downloaded in over 60 countries and expanded the reach of the exhibition to thousands unable to travel to the museum.

Commenting on the award, Apadmi CEO Garry Partington said: “This app demonstrates that highly interactive user experiences can be achieved by using the latest technologies. The app had to reflect the high standards of the British Museum and what visitors expect from a world renowned institution. We are really proud of the end result and this award recognises the quality and innovation that we achieved in developing this app.”

Head judge, The Gadget Show’s Jon Bentley commented on the awards1: “It can be easy to forget just how much research and experimentation has gone in to creating new ways for us to interact, communicate and learn. The events industry is a perfect example of this, and it’s only right that we should recognise the technology that helps to make it a better experience for all involved.”

The app was developed for Android, iPhone and iPad and, even though the exhibition has ended, is available to download on Google Play and the App Store.
