MEPC Birchwood Park takes the Green Apple

A North West business park has scooped a prestigious international award that recognises environmental best practice.

MEPC Birchwood Park, in Warrington, is celebrating after scooping a Green Apple Environmental Award for their efforts in making its workplace as environmentally friendly as possible.

The park is home to 150 companies and over 5,000 people. It received a bronze award for reducing its energy consumption, achieved by the installation of new central heating boilers and proactive management of heating times.

The Green Apple Environment Awards were launched in 1994 by The Green Organisation and have become well established as one of the most popular environmental campaigns in the world.

Amongst Birchwood Park’s many green credentials is an award-winning green travel plan, which includes an exclusive free shuttle bus link to Birchwood train station. Occupiers can also get an exclusive 50% saving on a saver ticket for all Warrington Buses, as well as access to secure bike storage facilities, showers and an online car-share scheme.

Jonathan Walsh, Birchwood Park’s Managing Director, said: “We’re really proud to have won this accolade for our environmental efforts. I’d like to thank everyone who invested their time and effort into achieving this award.”
