Team Valley’s Rubb supplies to Middle East flight school
Rubb Buildings Ltd, the Team Valley-based specialists in fabric building structures, have supplied three new helicopter hangars to a United Arab Emirates flight school.
The Gateahead firm secured the work with UAE’s Horizon Flight Academy after meeting at a defence industry exhibition in Abu Dhabi.
The Horizon team visited Rubb’s manufacturing plant in Gateshead, UK, and personnel from Rubb travelled to the school’s base at Al Ain International Airport to oversee the installation of the structures.
Three 23.4m x 36m steel and aluminium structures were constructed at the academy, which will be used for storage and maintenance of the fleet helicopters.
The main body of each Horizon hangar was constructed using a number of steel fabricated components together with uniquely designed steel roof and leg sections, that bolt together to form the span trusses. When assembled, high strength robust PVC coated polyester fabric sheets were fitted between the aluminium capping sections of adjacent spans to form the shelter.
Hareb Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri, Horizon CEO said: “We chose Rubb for their reputation in design, development and deployment of temporary hangars. The installation of our hangars was speedy and efficient, the project was completed on time and as promised.”
The Rubb team are now hoping to secure further work in the region after exhibiting at this month’s Dubai Airshow with their aircraft shelter systems.
